September 2024 Edition
Dear Refuge Family,
In just a couple of weeks we will officially enter the Fall Season. Cooler temperatures mean more outside fun activity without the worry of heat stroke. I might even enjoy mowing and trimming my grass. Or maybe not...
At the time of me writing this article we just had our very first Refuge FX…which stands for Family Experience. We had 60 Adults, teenagers, and kids throughout “Basecamp (what we call the Refuge Facility).” We worshiped together, divided into family groups, learned, played games, and even had a sweet snack at the end. We make much of Jesus and loved people radically. It was a great night. Do not forget to join us for our next RefugeFX on October 2nd at 6:30pm.
This coming Sunday starts our 40 Day Challenge of being in the Word and Prayer. More information is in this newsletter. I will be explaining everything in my sermon on Sunday morning. So, make certain you are here, or you can watch it online. Do not miss this great
opportunity to grow in your faith!
When I think back to one of my recent quiet times, I was reading Matthew 28. When Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to the tomb to anoint the body of Jesus. Matthew describes a gigantic earthquake, and Jesus coming down from heaven approaching the rolled away rock from the tomb, and then, of all things, Jesus sat on it.
Jesus, the Rock, sat on the stone as a sign of defeat over the grave of death. To me, this is the ultimate position of victory If our goal and mission is to bring hope to hurting people through Jesus. You better believe on of the ways we are going to do this is strengthen families and help people learn to have a strong relationship with God through The Word and Prayer! Join us on this journey. Do not get left behind.
Until the whole world hears,
Pastor Scott

Our “40 Day Challenge” begins this Sunday, September 8th!
What is our 40 Day Challenge? It is being in the Word and journaling our prayers in a notebook for 40 consecutive days. What happens if you miss a day? No biggie. Let’s say you miss day 10. You just make your day 10, the next day. You don’t need to double up or make up. It just might take you an extra day or two to complete your 40 days. Make sense?
You will need to get you a notebook (spiral notebook will work) where you can take notes on the left and right side of your pages. One side will be used for your prayers and one side reserved for your Bible reading and insights. All of this is explained in the book, “Fuel to Ignite Your Soul,” by Ross Alan Hill. This book is available in the foyer of the Refuge for $10 dollars. Don’t have $10 dollars? Don’t worry about it. It’s yours for free. This book will help guide you and give you instructions about what we will be doing together starting this Sunday.
Have questions? Feel free to text, call, or email Pastor Scott. 918-408-8154 [email protected]
What happens if you see this after we get started? Then join in on your day one whenever that is. We don’t have to finish all at the same time. The goal is to get in the Word and have a successful prayer life for 40 days so you can keep on going the rest of your life.
And don’t forget to join our special Facebook page.
