Having been brought by God’s grace to repent and believe in the Lord, Jesus Christ, and having been baptized in water by immersion following salvation, I now, depending upon the Holy Spirit, establish this covenant with God and with the body of The Refuge Owasso.
In all I do, I will aim to glorify, worship, and serve the God of my salvation, from whom and through whom and to whom are all things: to Him be all glory forever! (1 Cor. 10:31; Rom. 11:36)
I will do everything in my power to help make The Refuge a safe place for those who attend and make Refuge their home. I will also strive to be a safe place to all people so that in me, they may see Christ. I further commit to be teachable and trainable as a follower of Jesus, and that I will share the gospel with the lost and make disciples of believers to make other disciples according to the scriptures. (2 Thess. 3:3; Ps. 27:1, 17; Ps. 46:1; Ps. 82:4; Prov. 19:20; Mark 16:15; Matt. 28:18-20; John 15:13; Gal. 6:2)
I will eagerly maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace by walking together in love and in the Spirit, and by putting away all bitterness, anger, and harmful speech. I will be approachable for correction, and if I see a brother or sister in sin, I will approach them with gentleness and love and follow the principles set forth in scripture. I further support the purpose, vision, values, and core beliefs of our church. (Matt. 18:15-18; 1 Cor. 1:10; Eph. 4:3; Gal. 5:16, 25; Eph. 4:29, 31)
With humility, gentleness, patience, and love, I will be kind to others, tenderhearted, forgiving others, even as God, for Christ’s sake, has forgiven me. I will carry other’s burdens, rejoicing with those who rejoice and weeping with those who weep. (Eph. 4:1-2; Luke 17:3; Col. 3:13; 1 Thess. 5:11; 1 Pet. 1:22; Gal. 6:2; Rom. 12:15)
I will train my children in the instruction of the Lord, seeking to walk in a way that adorns the gospel of Christ before my family, friends, and neighbors. (Prov. 22:6; Eph. 6:4; 1 Pet. 3:1)
I will strive to live a self-controlled, upright, and godly life in this present age, as we wait for the blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ. (Gal. 5:22-24; Titus 2:12; 1 Pet. 1:14)
I will not neglect to gather with my church family and will support and treasure the biblical preaching of the whole counsel of God, and I will participate enthusiastically in the worship of our Creator through public worship. If I do have to miss a Sunday, I commit to the best of my ability to watch the service online. (Heb. 10:25; 2 Tim. 4:2)
I commit to being involved in a Missional Community, DNA (small group), and to use my gifts, talents, and time to serve my community and my church family. (Eccles. 4:9-10; Matt. 28:19; Acts 2:42-45; Acts 4:32-35; Rom. 14:19; 2 Tim. 1:6)
I will contribute financially, cheerfully, and generously to the expenses of the church, the relief of the poor, the needs of the saints, and the advancement of the gospel missionally, both to our neighbors and the nations. (Luke 12:33-34; Luke 6:38; Acts 20:35; 2 Cor. 9:6-7; 1 Tim. 6:17-19; Heb. 13:16)
I will, when I move from this place, unite as soon as possible with some other church where I can carry out the spirit of this covenant and the principles of God’s Word. In all these things, I rely on our God who has made a new and everlasting covenant with us, saying: “They shall be my people, and I will be their God. I will give them one heart and one way, that they may fear me forever, for their own good and the good of their children
after them. I will not turn away from doing good to them. And I will put the fear of me in their hearts, that they may not turn from me. I will rejoice in doing them good…with all my heart and all my soul.” (Jer. 32:38-41)
